I Looked Into My Waitress’s Eyes and Glimpsed an Endless Horizon

It was a normal Saturday, all things considered. Work had been a waking nightmare, but that’s a given, and it felt like everyone was just waiting for the weekend to come. As the party fiend of the friend group, I decided it was up to me to get everyone together for something to drink away the workday blues. I hopped on the old Facebook and made a quick event to let everyone know where to meet us. We had a great time and at the end of the evening, we all felt content. I flagged down our waitress and told her we were ready for the bill and that we wanted it split 16 different ways. It was then that I looked into her eyes and glimpsed an endless horizon that I knew would bring about a profound change within me.

So, up until then it had been a pretty normal Saturday like I said. But then things went sideways. I glimpsed the unfurling horizon of eternity and think I may have even peered into the woman’s soul and what I saw was unpleasant to say the least. That was honestly the most jarring part.

I saw death and hurt and betrayal and the loss of friends and the end of the world.

Bit I also saw love and the moon and music. I saw music. I have never seen anything so beautiful.

We paid our bill and left, but what I had seen was beyond the pale. I went home and laid down, but knew that sleep would never come. This infinite horizon was something that I was familiar with. It was someone I knew. I was up for hours pondering over how I knew this image of something so spellbinding. I was on the edge of sleep as the sun began to rise when suddenly my brain exploded in fire.

The endless horizon was from a dream I had as a child. In this dream, I saw these things, but forgot them upon waking. It wasn’t until I glimpsed that same visage behind her eyes that I knew not only that it was real, but that it was on it’s way. Something is coming, we must prepare ourselves.

Citizens beware.
