We Asked God for Their Perfect Purge Playlist

Earlier this week, we put out a last-minute Purge checklist for you in anticipation of the upcoming purge event taking place this weekend. This was mainly for those of us that are planning to hole up and stay in this year. However, since we want to make sure and cover all opinions in this publication, we have reached out to a friend of ours who plans to be out and about on Purge night to get the other side of the conversation. Known only by the name ‘God’ carved into his face mask, this correspondent has participated in every Purge since it’s founding and over time has perfected his playlist, which he has gratuitously agreed to share with us.

So, without further ado, we present God’s Perfect Purge Playlist.

Alright y’all, this is God speaking to you now. Welcome to the world of the Purge, my world, where I am going to show you exactly how to get ready for this special night.

A Purge Playlist is something that can actually be very personal. For instance, my first pick is The Purge Announcement by Trap City, a remix of the announcement that will soon play on TV screens across the nation. I like to get started with this remix, as it gets me hyped up for a night of lawlessness and reminds me of the rules of the night which can sometimes get lost in all the excitement.

From there, I like to slip into something more familiar, primarily Memphis Horrorcore. Before I moved out to LA, I used to blast this from the speakers in my car as I patrolled the neighborhood. Now, I use it as a way to get into my purge persona and focus on the villainy of the moment. After all, there’s never a better time to unleash your demons and horrorcore is perfect for this purpsoe.

Now, I’m feeling murderous and ready to go. However, unless you’ve been putting this off for awhile, you likely still have days or hours to go before the countdown begins. You don’t want to go to hard to fast, that’s what trips up a lot of first-time purgers. So, once you’ve gotten into the mood, you are going to want to listen to the full track list of Awaken My Love by Childish Gambino. This is going to level you out and remind you why you are purging in the first place.

At this point, you have fully awakened your demons and felt the power that they give you before leveling out again. The main goal of the playlist is to help you tap into this inner monster. The rest is up to you depending on your taste, but the most important thing to remember is that this is your purge. If you are the type of person who is going to rob or kill folks listening to Taylor Swift, that’s up to you. Just remember what your trigger is so that you can activate it later when the time comes. Personally, I just put on some MF DOOM and let the rest happen.

The rest is in your hands. I’m not going to reveal any more of my secrets, as purging is a zero-sum game, but trust me when I say the reason I’m still here is because I made a playlist. If you do the same, you might just survive long enough to craft your own.

See you out there.

Thanks, God. Insightful as always.
